Warm Indian bathroom in morning light, wall-mounted geyser with a small copper indicator glowing, middle-class Kolkata apartment

You left the geyser on. Again.

This house hasn't had that problem in two years. Every geyser switches itself off 30 minutes after you turn it on.

Straight answers

Everyone wants it. Almost nobody knows what they'd get.

These are the six things people actually say to us. Here's what we say back.

What if it stops working when I need it?

It runs on hardware in your home. No internet needed for anything that matters.

I'll end up with three apps for one fan.

One system. Your Tuya switch, your LG TV, your Atomberg fan and your Zigbee sensor — all in one place.

I don't understand any of this.

You don't need to. We design it, install it and show you how it works — in your own home.

What if the company disappears?

The system is local and standard-based, so it keeps working. And we're in Kolkata, not a call centre.

My father will hate it.

Every switch still works as a switch. Nothing is app-only.

They'll break my walls.

Mostly retrofit. We check for the neutral wire before quoting and tell you if your board needs work.

Room by room

What your home actually does, room by room.

Not features. Outcomes — the things that happen without you touching anything.

Living room of a middle-class Kolkata apartment in morning light, ceiling fan, bookshelf, lived-in and warm

Living room

  • Lights come up when you walk in — dimmed after sunset, not full brightness at 11pm.
  • Fan and lights switch off when the room empties.
  • Music follows you from room to room.
Master bedroom of a Kolkata apartment near midday, wardrobe and curtains, warm and lived-in

Master bedroom

  • Open the wardrobe and its light comes on.
  • Curtains restore when the main door closes.
  • One tap on a bedside tag sets the night scene.
Indian kitchen in the afternoon, cooking in progress, exhaust fan above the stove

Kitchen

  • The exhaust runs while you cook and stops 30 minutes later — not all afternoon.
  • Occupancy lighting that doesn't miss you when you stand still.
Indian bathroom in late afternoon light with wall geyser and exhaust fan

Bathrooms

  • Presence detection that works when you're not moving — mmWave radar, not just motion.
  • The geyser switches itself off. Every time.
  • Exhaust on a timer, not on memory.
Study corner in early evening, desk lamp on, computer and books

Study

  • Load monitoring, so you know what's actually drawing power — per socket, not a guess from the bill.
Apartment entrance at dusk with the main door, doorbell and a small camera

Entrance

  • An alert when the main door is left open too long.
  • A doorbell that sends you a picture of who rang it.
  • A camera at the door, recording to hardware inside your home.

Our hardware

RoomGuardian V2

Our own multi-sensor board — designed, built and supported here.

What's on the board

Sensors on the RoomGuardian V2 board — the complete list
BME280Temperature, humidity and barometric pressure
VEML7700Ambient light
LD241024 GHz mmWave radar — presence and distance, including when you're completely still
PIRMotion

That is the complete list. Nothing else is on the board.

Need to sense something the board doesn't cover? We fit the right proven sensor for it and wire it into the same system, quoted separately.

Air quality & CO₂ — a true NDIR CO₂ sensor plus a PM2.5 particle sensor, reading locally into the same dashboard.
Water leakage — a battery leak sensor under the sink or by the geyser that messages you at the first drop.
Washing machine done — a vibration sensor on the machine, or a power-monitoring plug that notices when the draw stops.
Gas, door, smoke, anything with a standard — if it speaks Zigbee, Thread or Wi‑Fi, it joins the one system. No extra app.

Why it matters

Most sensors detect motion. Sit still to read a book and the lights go off. mmWave radar sees you breathing, so the room knows you're there.

In fabrication

Working units are running in our own home today. We'll tell you honestly when it's available.

Failure modes

What happens when…

The questions people are too polite to ask. Answered before you sign anything.

the power goes out?

Every switch remembers its state. The mains line restores itself in ten seconds. Automations resume.

the internet goes down?

Everything local keeps running. Only remote access and voice assistants pause.

a device drops off?

The system self-heals — and we fix it before you notice.

Wi-Fi doesn't reach that corner?

We use Zigbee and Thread mesh. Each device extends the network.

you go out of business?

It's local and standard-based, built on Home Assistant. It doesn't depend on us existing.

someone hacks it?

Nothing is exposed to the internet by default. Camera footage never leaves the building. DNS filtering runs on-site.

For builders & housing societies

Sell the flat faster. And for more.

10–15%

The premium properties with modern smart features can command.

Foldable into loan

A typical builder package — buyers can fold it into the home loan instead of paying up front.

Cheaper at construction

Building it in from day one costs significantly less than retrofitting.

What we do for builders

Pre-wiring specification at the construction stage. Repeatable per-flat packages. A show flat that actually demonstrates it. Handover training for buyers. And ongoing support, so it doesn't become your service problem.

We're a young company. We'll show you a working installation before you commit to anything.

The same flat — wired at construction, handed over working.

Eldercare

For a parent living alone.

Activity patterns, without cameras in private rooms.

A message if the morning routine doesn't happen.

Lights that come on by themselves at night.

Nothing to learn. Nothing to wear. No app required.

Ask the assistant

Ask anything. We'll tell you what's actually possible.

Our assistant knows our full working setup — 1,700+ devices and 50+ automations, running in a real Kolkata home for years. Ask it about your flat, your wiring, or the devices you already own.

It can also take your callback request — share your name and number in the chat and it files the same request as the form below.

GrihaTEK was built out of a working system, not a business plan. These numbers are live counts from our founder's home — not a lab, not a showroom — where every automation on this page runs every day. Before you commit to anything, we'll show it to you working.
